Listen to the Whisper

It Speaks the Truth

Does your dream shout? Or is there a whisper coming quietly, but persistently, from within that is worthy of your attention and action?

Skill vs. Temperament?

Both Matter!

“An Australian study has found that about one in five corporate executives in the United States are psychopaths – roughly the same rate as among prisoners.” It’s bad enough hiring a psychopath to lead a company but what if someone like this ended up in the Whitehouse?

According to news reports, one of our candidates uses insult tactics and another hubris tactics. Both tactics seem consistent with how the study defines psychopaths, “Success is a game and they don’t mind if they violate morals. It is about getting where they want and having dominance over others.”  Help! It is time to stop the madness in both business and in politics!

Companies must get better at determining who has the temperament and skill to be CEO and We the People must consider very carefully who has the temperament and skill to be our Commander in Chief.

Will…Work…Wonder

September, specifically the week after Labor Day, seems to mark a time held tradition: reboot, refresh, refocus.   In the spirit of practicing what we preach. here is our Fall refocus:

To be an unforgettable positive force by expanding our will, work and wonder

Will… We choose to be more deliberate and planful though grit, determination and drive.

Work… We choose to be more intentional and generative in our effort and labor.

Wonder… We choose to be more altruistic and auspicious in our impact on others.

How will you reboot to grow your will, work and wonder?   If you’re in search of  some strategies, POI might help

Cheers,

Lollipop Strategy

When you get some questionable feedback perhaps this post by Seth Godin will help:

Most people don’t get too upset at anything a two-year-old kid says to them.

That’s because we don’t believe that toddlers have a particularly good grasp on the nuances of the world, nor do they possess much in the way of empathy. Mostly, though, it turns out that getting mad at a toddler doesn’t do any good, because he’s not going to change as a result (not for a few years, anyway).

Couldn’t the same be said for your uninformed critics? For the people who bring you down without knowing any better, for those that sabotage your best work, or undermine your confidence for selfish reasons?

It’s hardly productive to ruin your day and your work trying to teach these folks a lesson.

Better, I think, to treat them like a toddler. Buy them a lollipop, smile and walk away.

Bottomline, don’t let uninformed critics take you out, consider the source before you take on any demons of doubt!
