Lead with a GOOD Heart

A person’s character is determined by his/her motives, and motive is always a matter of the heart.

What motivates you? Narcism, altruism, personal gain, collective gain? Is your heart in the right place? If NOT your character is at risk! If your character is at risk your brand is at risk and your ability to gain trust and lead is in question.

What if you listen to your head AND your heart to clarify your motives, are they self or other oriented? Leadership is a privilege, it is other oriented. Lead with the intention to DRAW the BEST out of others (not to judge, condemn or demean others).

Commit to this and you are more likely to build the character you need to lead through TRUST and +IMPACT.

Cheers,

Food for the Soul

“Jackie and Kevin Freiberg always focus on the greater good. That’s why I love CAUSE! It’s all about people and organizations who feel called to make a difference—to serve a purpose far beyond the typical bottom line. The book’s design is a feast for the eyes and its message is food for the soul. Read this book and serve at a higher level.”Ken Blanchard, coauthor of The New One Minute Manager and Collaboration Begins With You

Powerful Punch

“ CAUSE! packs a powerful punch!

Over many years the Freibergs have helped me show our players that we are playing for something bigger—For the San Francisco Giants, it’s about entertaining people, elevating their spirits and creating a place for community.

Reminding players of our CAUSE has created an uncanny level of unselfishness and chemistry among our players that makes winning possible. After reading CAUSE! it is clear that mission driven companies like National Life Group are far better positioned to win as well.”- Bruce Bochy, Manager, Three-time World Champion San Francisco Giants

Doubt is in

“I’m not really sure.” Have you chosen doubt? Doubt has become very attractive and almost honored these days. Sadly, doubt is “in.”

Be careful, doubt can masquerade as humility, a prerequisite for respect. Many people in organizations today have “settled” for a laid-back doubt, believing it to be a genuine character decision; they think it’s a virtue. In the bigger picture, we appreciate and applaud the desire for humility, we promote it! Humility is a quality to strive for everyday, but not at the expense of conviction!

Yet, the struggle is, many people of conviction are suspect, seen as too dogmatic and arrogant, characteristics that must be kept in check.
But… conviction is not the enemy. Pride is. Arrogance is. Not conviction.

As G. K. Chesterton said, “An open mind is really a mark of foolishness, like an open mouth…The practice of opening the mind, as in opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid.”

What do you believe, what is your conviction and what are you doing to open your mind, become more informed and THEN become a passionate advocate for what you believe? Informed conviction is the goal. Organizations (and this Country) need people who will passionately share their informed convictions to achieve a better future.

Leaders practice confident humility, they are people of strong convictions. How will you practice the art of confident humility to bring your convictions to life?

Cheers,
