Abundance!

Recently Jackie was the closing keynote at a very large accounting systems conference. Peter Diamandis, the founder of the XPrise and Singularity University, spoke earlier in the day and Jackie had the good fortune of hearing his comments on “Abundance.” According to Diamandis, “We are headed toward a world of abundance! The future is better than we think.”

Our global population is 7 billion. In 2010 there were 2 billion people using technology, we are headed to 5 billion users in the next few years; that means we can look forward to upwards of 3 billion new minds in the global conversation.

Think about all that we can learn, discover, and innovate. If you are in the pursuit of innovating for a better future; what do you need to turn off, and what can you do to engage in more innovative global conversations?

Good Job!

“Good job” doesn’t cut it anymore!

“Success unshared is failure,” a great quote from John Paul Dejoria, co-founder Patron Spirits and Paul Mitchell Systems.

We have spent a lot of time working with many of the BEST companies in the world and one thing we’ve learned from these best places is they make sharing success a marketing strategy. They tell their success stories really well and in some cases they’re even braggadocios.

We know people are all expected to work hard with less to achieve tough year-end goals. However, when people succeed, business-as-usual kicks in, people are given a high-five and hear “Good Job!” and then start the trek all over again.

Why not find creative and unexpected ways to share your success stories inside your business. Create a Dare to Share, Dare to Brag meeting, event, or internal posting. Give people the chance to brag about their accomplishments and celebrate their successes. Don’t be surprised if people discount their individual contributions and spread the accolades to a team… that’s a good thing!

When you challenge people to find clever ways to share their successes, the stories serve as a benchmark for everyone else and reliving what it took to achieve a tough goal, serves as a way to re-engage teams as well.

As you approach year end, re-invent your story telling skills, shake it up, celebrate success, and brag about success to set new benchmarks for 2014.
