Innovation is about NEXT Practices

Is your Dr. prescribing Apps? If not she should be.

Dr. Eric Topol, based at San Diego, Scripps Hospital, is one of the most innovative thinkers out there.

Listen to what Dr. Topol has to say, he doesn’t think best practice, he thinks NEXT practice, as all innovators should.

Ah ha continued!

As we suggested a few weeks ago, “walking away” is a great strategy for accelerating the ah ha. Here are a few more ideas on how to spark the flames of creativity.

Studies actually show a link between the color green, creativity, and clarity. If you want to think creatively…surround yourself with the color green!

When you let your mind drift it can clear a path to inspiration. Whether it’s daydreaming, a change of scenery, or doing something mindless or routine, letting your mind wander is a useful strategy.

A lot of great ideas happen at transition times. Falling asleep; just waking; showering; jogging; or driving home after a long day can lead to the long awaited ah ha. Keeping a note book or smart phone nearby is a good idea.

And although it may seem counter intuitive, try to confuse your brain. If you’re a morning person, try thinking about your challenge in the evening. If you’re a night owl you may gain a fresh and better perspective by tackling it in the morning.

If creativity is your goal, break your routine.
